MAKE YOUR CHEEKBONES GLOW AND YOUR LIPS SHINE.

Hey my follow beauties!

I thought this month I would share my favourite highlight and glosses which I have been reaching for quite regularly. I've tried experimenting with minimal/ no makeup makeup looks and have really been enjoying discovering new products and those which compliment each other.  Do you ever go through stages like this? I love to switch things up, discover new products and ways I can use them so they are multipurpose, besides, who doesn't love a product that you can use for both eyes and lips?

The first product I am going to talk about Is the Laura Geller New York Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in the shade 'Diamond Dust'.  From my first swatch I knew instantly that this highlight would be in with my all time favourite highlights. The shade compliments my fair skin tone really well! It's impressive as I've found a shade which doesn't make my cheek bones look grey/white/washed out, perfect! Please leave a comment below if you have ever tried this highlight, what are your thoughts? Or just comment your favourite product for the month of February!

The swatch above shows the true pigmentation of this illuminator, no edits, no change of contrast or brightness, the illuminator in it's true form. The pigment picks up pretty well so if you like subtle highlights then go easy with either the application or the choice of tool to apply this. It is buildable if you want an even more intense highlight. The image above shows the pigmentation primer free, amazing right? There isn't much fallout from this highlight if handled carefully. There is a pink/pearl undertone to this highlight which is demonstrated with better quality in the below image. It's such a gorgeous unique shade which is perfect for both the cheekbones and inner corner of the eyes, applying this is sure to make them pop!

This highlight retails for: $26.00 US Dollars
                                         £16.50 GBP Beauty Bay
                                         £21.00 GBP Cult Beauty
                                         £21.00 GBP Look Fantastic

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To start, glosses haven't always been my favourite out of all the lip products, being completely honest with you guys, I tried a gloss once a few years ago and completely hated the texture it left on my lips, specially if they have become dehydrated. Lipgloss + Dehydrated Lips = my worse nightmare. So I never really looked back after that point, even though I loved the colour payoff, I just couldn't deal with the 'tacky' feeling, specially after being a matte kinda girl!

HOWEVER.

Yes, this is me actually saying I may have just been converted, not completely to gloss only but I've found a product that actually works well with my lips, doesn't feel dehydrating and has great colour payoff. The Laura Geller Color Luster Lip Gloss is one where one swipe of this, you have enough product to use for one application and provides great pigmentation. Some of the glosses that I have swatched in the drug store I find are very transparent and I find myself having to swatch 3-5 times to see the true colour. The thought of that many applications of gloss on my lips is an instant no, not only would that be costly if used regularly but wow, my lips would just feel that I have un-needed layers, not the best texture to feel. THESE however. WOW. I've taken a picture of the gloss with just one swatch, no edits, no play with contrast or brightness, the gloss in it's true form. I am certainly impressed with the pigmentation as it's just right for one application without the dreaded feel on my lips.

Let's talk texture. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has certain characteristics that I go for with products?

THE DEAL BREAKER?

The gloss does apply like a regular gloss does, however, it's no where near as tacky feel as some of the glosses I have tried in the past. It's bearable,  more of a creamy texture than tacky. I can actually apply this without the need to take it off straight away, specially when paired with a matte lip. It adds that shine and pigment without it being clumpy. However, it does transfer, which if I'm completely honest, I didn't expect it not to, considering it is a gloss, it's to be expected to a certain degree. Having said this, even with a transfer, I didn't find that my lips were bare after drinking, pigmentation of the gloss still remained which was great.

These two shades are PERFECT for the upcoming summer months, specially if you are matte girl like me and want to switch things up a little.  These shades are fun, vibrant but not overpowering and they compliment quite a few skin tones too. The best thing I love about makeup is products that you can buy and you know the money you have spent on it will see you through the whole time until the expiration date. Products that last. There are 6 shades in the collection. The top shade which is more of a peach shade is 'Rosy Tarte' and below is ' Berry Smoothie'.

'This moisturizing, high-shine lip gloss leaves lips drenched in light-to-medium coverage with soft, yet brilliant, shine—ideal for everday wear! The lightweight formula is infused with antioxidant Italian Tomato Extract to protect lips and moisturizing Kendi Oil to condition, leaving lips soft and supple.'  - Laura Geller.

Retails for:
$19.00 US Dollars
£12.75 -HQHAIR

Brighten Your Look And Get Ready For Summer!

Hi Lovelies!

I'm back with another blog post and I've been dying to show you this foundation!

For the days where I want to feel that little bit more fresh faced, to show off my " no makeup makeup", to make a statement but also feel that my makeup enhances my features in a natural way, this product can do just that.

Do you guys ever have them days?

For all my girls out there who suffer with dry skin, girl I feel you. I've suffered with dry skin for as long as I can remember. Finding a foundation that isn't liquid but also doesn't make me look cakey, however still has the right amount of coverage has been a struggle.  Although my skin has been taking a positive turn, I still love a coverage throughout the year!

This here is the Laura Geller Baked Balance -N- Brighten Foundation. I have two shades Fair and Porcelain.

This is a compact baked powder  foundation which offers the most beautiful coverage.  The foundation itself is made with unique blend of different shades to both compliment the skin tone as well as brighten it. There is nothing I dislike more than to finish my makeup and my skin to feel and look dull. This foundation will provide a coverage which is both light and offers good coverage for days where you want your skin to look like skin but have just that slight enhancement and glow.

As you can see from the image above, with just one swatch I was able to pick up quite a good amount of product which provides great coverage. The shade swatched above is 'Fair' and is perfect for those who are fair and have pink undertones. This compliments the skin so well without feeling like you have foundation on. The perfect thing about this foundation that really drawn me in is the fact that I can customise how much coverage I want. This foundation is buildable to suit your preferred coverage of a powder foundation and is amazing for " no makeup makeup days".

The foundation is compact and travel friendly which is perfect for the days where I may need to touch up during the day without the fear of glass bottles smashing in my bag. It also comes with a mirror which saves more room in the makeup bag for sure!

The texture of the foundation is slightly chalky, however when applied to the skin it doesn't feel like that at all. It blends seamlessly into the skin when applied with a light hand, building coverage to where needed.

The shade 'Porcelain' swatched above as shown has amazing coverage whilst also giving that brightening effect! I personally love this shade for when I am tan free as it compliments my fair skin tone quite well. This is definitely a favourite of mine. It has no scent which is quite nice as some of my liquid foundations, such the MAC Stuido Fix Fluid, if ever you have smelt it is quite a strong and overpowering at times. With this, this is perfect, specially for the upcoming summer months.

Comment below if you have ever tried this foundation and what you thought! I'd love to hear if this has worked for you.

With Love, Tanya x

Breaking The Bank For Lilly Lashes? Are They Worth The Price Tag?

I've had such great engagement on my Instagram since posting a picture of me wearing these amazing lashes. Until recently, I never used to be the one for wearing lashes, typically because I wasn't the best at applying them to myself, but somehow I could get them right on others!  After some time thinking, and screaming "surely I can't be the only person?" I was finally able to learn the technique that worked for me. And that's the thing about techniques, is that you learn it over time, some find it quicker than others but it's honestly just practice and there's no real time limit to it. That's also the thing I love with makeup, you learn and find ways to make different techniques work for you.

After noticing that lashes completely changed my makeup game, making my eyes look more awake and really defining the shadows used, I started to look for  lashes that were natural and easy to wear. Social media definitely has a huge influence in my shopping basket. If your like me, you see someone wearing amazing lashes and you go to buy them because you want the same amazing look right? But then you get hit with the price tag. I know there are quite a few great brands for eyelashes on the market but after seeing so many people rave about Lilly Lashes and having the battle whether to buy them or not, i'm so glad I did. I am in no way sponsored by Lilly Lashes and all thoughts remain my own.

Spending £20 on a pair of lashes really did make me rethink about buying another pair from this brand because in all fairness, they are not cheap. However, the quality totally won me over. The quality of these lashes do reflect the price tag and they can be re-used up to 10-12 times if taken care of correctly. I brought the pair 'Goddess' which are a natural lash.  The brand states 'the Goddess Luxury Mink Lashes accentuate all eye shapes creating a whimsically wispie finish'. I didn't need any more convincing after this.

Although it states a natural finish, I do think that these lashes can be dramatic too, dependant upon the colour of the shadows you use. To demonstrate, I have uploaded the picture above of a smokey eye look with the lashes, although they are natural, they definitely make a statement which is what I really love about this look. They are very soft so my top tip is to be careful and take care of them because they are not cheap and if taken care of, you will definitely get your value for money.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post!
I upload daily swatches and pictures using my favourite products on Instagram so if you have it too, let's share the love! My Instagram :)

I'd also love to hear about if you have used these lashes and your favourite ones? Or if you use lashes in general and your favourite brand!

I needed to tell you all about these products because with the pigmentation these have, I couldn't not do a blog post about them! I have heard so many good things about this brand because they use all natural ingredients in their products and I wanted to compare the pigmentation of natural products compared to others on the market.  Throughout my search, I was lucky enough to be sent these products to review, however all views remain honest and are my own. I have included swatches of the products to show you just how great the pigmentation is so you can see why I love these so much.

As a makeup artist, I have many products in my kit that do not use natural ingredients yet I still use them because of the pigmentation. The great thing about the Ayuryedic Kajal is that they are handmade and are certified natural which means that they have been screened and certified safe to use. The brand uses organic ghee for soothing softness, camphor for natural cooling and cleansing and organised almond oil with natural pigments. I think it's great that you can find a brand that works with natural ingredients and do not test on animals, yet have great pigmentation! It's particularly important to know the ingredients list if you have sensitive skin or suffer from breakouts, knowing these are made naturally gave me confidence to begin with.

The two colours I have from this range are Cold Black and Rich Loam, these colour are quite bold and are perfect for multiple uses.  Starting from the left I have 'Pure Black' and on the right 'Rich Loam'. Both pigments can be used as either eye shadows or eyeliners which is great because it saves money on buying multiple products. Pure Black is well pigmented as shown and I can intensify the colour as needed for either a bold look or a more soft approach. Rich Loam is a bronze pigment with traces of gold glitter running throughout, it's beautiful. The pigments when applied are creamy and only needed one swatch to reveal it's true colour. The longevity of the products on the skin is quite interesting as i thought they wouldn't last as long because they included an oil, however much to my surprise these pigments last so long! I even took a swatch of me smudging the product once to show how well they keep on the skin. In honesty, I even found it quite hard to remove with just an ordinary facial wipe which shows how well this stays on the skin.

I had to result to using coconut oil to remove the product and as you can see, the original swatch was still in tact after smudging. These beauties retail for £13.90 which is great for a product you can use as an eyeliner and eye shadow! They contain no lead or parabens and use nourishing almond oil, honey and cocoa butter. Best yet, they have a range of colour to choose, these can easily be integrated into different looks for all seasons, specially the vibrant colours for festival looks. I have included a link below to where you can buy these products in the UK and a chance to check out their amazing colour range for this summer. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading and I hope this has inspired you to try natural products as this brand has proved that you can have pigmentation without harmful ingredients.

Could This Be The Best Drugstore Lip Liner Range?

As I was going through my makeup storage, I noticed how much makeup has changed over the years and how trends come and go. I never used to be one for lip liner but now it's one of the biggest collections I have.  A lot of trends have come back and specially with influences from those famous on social media such as Kylie Jenner. Ever since using a lip liner, it has definitely improved the performance of an ordinary lipstick as when applied all over the lip, it makes my lipstick last so much longer, kind of like a primer for your lipstick! I also find that applying a lip liner not only makes my lips look slightly bigger, but I can also change and adapt the colours that I apply, such as applying a nude lip liner over a darker shade of lipstick to lift the colour slightly. Even better, applying a lip liner alone can also be perfectly eye catching and look just as good as a lipstick.

I have put together some swatches of my favourite lip liners that work well with a lot of shades and are also affordable. I absolutely love the NYX Cosmetics lip liners because they are long lasting and the pigmentation is amazing.  Below, starting from the left I have shades Beige, Mauve, Earth Tone and Auburn.  These lip liners are priced at the amazing rate of £3.00, so affordable.

NYX Cosmetics describes these as buttery. long- wearing which resists bleeding. The formula is quite buttery and are long-lasting however the darker shades do stain the lip, but nothing a little coconut oil and a lip exfoliating scrub can't work it's magic on.  The great thing about these lip liners is that they contain Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Coconut Oil which are nourishing ingredients for the lips in general so it's great to have protection whilst rocking your favourite lip combo.

Thank you for reading and I hope this has given you some insight into these incredible products that definitely make your lipstick stand out.

How to clean your Beauty Blender in 2 easy steps

I thought I would it would be a good idea to tell you all how I clean and disinfect my Beauty Blender in 2 easy steps, I say it's easy because it only takes 5 minutes and when it comes to cleaning brushes it's not the most quickest of tasks. However, with this routine you can do this these two easy steps whilst the kettle is boiling, so let's go!

A good application of foundation or however you use your Beauty Blender is now popular using this tool. If you've purchased one of these, you'll know that they aren't the cheapest, retailing for £16.00 for the original Beauty Blender.  So looking after this tool has the same importance as looking after your brushes, even more with this because of moulding. I know what you may be thinking, how is that possible?

As its a rule of thumb to wet a Beauty Blender before the application of makeup right? however bacteria and germs will grow within this moist environment. So leaving it out after makeup even once can start this process and is one factor that can cause acne. Imagine putting a sponge of mould on your face every time you use it in the morning? It's more noticeable with the lighter colour Beauty Blenders.

There's a few brush cleansers on the market but I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo, £1! So it's affordable and very effective which is great! Firstly build a lather of shampoo into the Beauty Blender and ensure you are using warm water.

Next make sure you squeeze out all the water in preparation for the following step (you'll need a microwave for the next part).  Fill a microwaveable container with a small amount of water and pop it in for 30 seconds. As a Beauty Blender touches the face it can collect dirt particles, which will grow bacteria if left unclean, the heat of the microwave kills these germs and can prevent the growth happening in the first place by using this routine. Easy right?

The final step is to leave to cool down and squeeze any water that the sponge may that soaked up and place in an open container to dry. You can even use a egg cup or any container that allows to air to ventilate around the Beauty Blender. You now have a perfectly cleansed and sterile Beauty Blender which will provide a fresh and flawless foundation base for the next use!

Which products do you use to clean your Beauty Blender? Please leave a comment below!

5 minute makeup look? Here's how: ft BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette

For the longest time, i never used to have much motivation to do my whole makeup routine in the mornings, not because I don't love makeup, of course i'm obsessed. However, having two children made it 100000% harder because it was a miracle if i was able to even have breakfast in the morning in peace (without trying to hide in the bathroom to eat a piece of toast without " mum can i have some".

As a makeup artist, I have a lot of eye-shadow palettes in my kit, however not many that have the luxury of neutral eyes-shadows and highlighters with great pigment! Also, this palette is quite compact and I am able to take it with me in my bag without taking up much space which is a plus in my book!

The Carli Bybel  14 colour eyeshadow & highlight palette is one of two palettes that she has created with BH Cosmetics and retails for £18.00 on beautybay.  The palette contains a mix of ten matte and shimmer shadows and four high impact highlighters.

As you can tell, I couldn't wait to swatch (like a kid in a sweet shop) but can we all just take a moment to appreciate how amazing these colours are! they are super pigmented and found that because they are easy to blend because they are a creamy formula, although some of the darker colours within this palette are slightly powdery with a little fall out, i found just simply doing my eyeshadow first before foundation allowed me to clean it up without any problem. Also, i was able to switch from a day time look to an evening look in just a  few steps with the mix of light and darker shadows.  SUPER EASY!

This palette is definitely worth the money and considering you get a good selection of shadows and highlighters compared to drugstore and even higher end makeup which can make your bank account CRY with the price for just one item, you can even use the highlighters as pigments on the eyelid which is amazing if you want to glam up the look!

The palette is also cruelty free and with the variety of highlight shades to suit many skin tones, this is a great investment.

Comment below if you have tried this palette and what did you think?!

I would firstly like to welcome you to my blog.

I'm twenty three, I'm a mother to my two beautiful little girls and i am a huge enthusiast to all things beauty! Also part-time Dominoes lover or addict some might say (haha).
I'm a self-confessed beauty addict with a diploma in Bridal Makeup.
I have started Tanya Talks to share with you my love of makeup and skincare, sharing my thoughts, swatches of high-end and drugstore finds whilst interacting with others who share this passion too!

Sometimes, (i say sometimes but i mean all the time), I spend approximately one hour in makeup stores battling between the bank card and justifying the price of products, particularly when products are on the higher end of the scale. This can be time consuming and thoughts may arise " is this worth the money?"

(i tell myself a countless times that online shopping is far more convenient as shopping with a newborn and a toddler is a battle but can be messy too!).  I love to invest my money on products that i feel are worth their price instead of a well presented package and overrated on social media.
Starting this blog will allow me to write about product claims and keep you guys updated with the products expectations.

I really hope you enjoy reading my blog posts in hope this will reflect some new insight for you to gain. I hope for you to share this journey with me.

With love, Tanya x
